With family or friends, meet this fabulous territory by transporting only your personal belongings. Equipped with maps and a good road book, you will evolve smoothly. Itinerary

  • Day 1: Pessade - Orcival

    3:30 walking - Hotel

    In the early afternoon, meet the driver who will transport your luggage and leave your vehicle in Pessade, where you start your hike. For Information, Clermont-Ferrand / Pessade = 30km. Hike to join the lake Servières, nice little crater lake a few thousand years old, followed by a gentle descent with beautiful landscapes to
    Village of Orcival.
    Dinner and overnight at the hotel

  • Day 2: Orcival - Montlosier

    3 to 4 hours walking - Lodge

    In the morning, the Chain of the Puys is showing itself. Your feets lead you to the "Ferme des violettes" for the pleasure of a family visit (Attention no visit if passing Sundays and From 3 to 10 July 2017). You will then continue your walk to the castle of Montlosier, home of Maison du Parc Naturel Regional des Volcans d'Auvergne. Possible visit of the exhibition on the Chaine des Puys.
    Dinner and overnight stay at the lodging of Montlosier.

  • Day 3: Montlosier - Puy de la Vache - Montlosier

    3:30 to 4:30 walking - Lodge

    Today, you are evolving on the most emblematic volcanoes of the Chaine des Puys, this "encyclopedia of volcanism" as Haroun Tazieff liked to define it.
    In the morning, at the reception of the house of the Park, think to take your musettes which will help you to discover in the form of pedagogical games, the nature and the environment of Puy de Vichatel (one of our most beautiful cones of slag).
    In the afternoon, go for the ascent of Puy de la Vache and may be of its twin, the Puy de Lassolas.
    Dinner and overnight stay at the lodging of Montlosier.

  • Day 4: Montlosier - Pessade

    3 to 4 hours walking

    Between hay meadows and pastures, your last day of hiking will make you go up to the hamlet of Pessade, passing by the Narse of Espinasse, a real jewel and relic of the ice age.

No specific experience.Walk regularly and have the pleasure of effort.

Practical info

Your meeting

In order to limit your CO2 emissions, we encourage you to use public transport : Clermont-Fd SNCF station. 
From Clermont station to Pessade, about € 60 / taxi ride on weekdays and about € 90 / taxi ride on Sundays and public holidays. 
For information, transport to / from Clermont-Fd - Pessade (60 km A / R). By road: 30 km (40 mn) from Clermont-ferrand. Take the N89 in the direction of Mont Dore, then at the Ventouse pass, turn left (dir Besse) then 500 m further on the right on the D5. At Zanière, turn right until Pessade. (See Openstreet Map)

Accommodation 

1 Night in a hotel ** and 2 nights in a gite d'étape.
If you arrive the day before, you can spend the night in Finnish kota or caravan at Pessade. There are 2 restaurants in the village, but it is also possible to order the meal from a caterer to eat on site. 

Food

You will have breakfast at the Hotel and the lodging.
You will carry your lunch box. Evening meals are served in the hotel's restaurant and at the lodge.

Recommended equipment

A small backpack containing 

• a hat or cap
• a pair of sunglasses
• a rain cape or a K-Way windbreaker or better a Gore-Tex jacket.
• Tupperware with cutlery for picnics and a gourd
• Plastic bags to wrap business in bad weather
• a camera / pair of binoculars

 For your evening luggage

• a cotton or silk meat bag for 2 nights at the cottage (blankets are provided)
• canvas or jogging pants
• a pair of tennis or other for the evening
• a polar fur
• spare clothing and underwear
• swimsuit
• toilet bag with a bath towel

 Shoes

• a pair of lightweight walking shoes, preferably already used, or, for sensitive feet, a good pair of reinforced tennis shoes
